Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Bets £1m On Euro 2020

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has placed a £1 million bet on the European Championship, according to reports.

Guardiola, who is no stranger to high-stakes gambling, has backed Spain to win the tournament this summer.

The Spaniard led his country to victory at Euro 2008 and is hopeful of lifting the trophy for a third time in 2020.

"It's always a risky bet, but I'm confident Spain will be champions," said Guardiola.

"I've been watching them closely in training and they look really good. They have the perfect combination of experience and youth, and I'm sure they'll go all the way."

Spain begin their campaign against Sweden on June 15th and are currently priced at 12/1 to win the tournament.

Bet365, William Hill Offer Euro 2020 Odds

The UEFA Euro 2020 football tournament is set to take place across 12 host nations from 12 June to 12 July 2020. As excitement builds for the eagerly anticipated event, online bookmakers Bet365 and William Hill have released their outright betting markets, with both firms offering generous odds on a number of potential winning teams.

England are unsurprisingly among the favourites to lift the trophy next year, with Bet365 pricing them at 6/1 and William Hill offering 7/1. Gareth Southgate's side will be looking to improve on their disappointing performances at the last two major tournaments, when they were knocked out in the group stage on both occasions.

Germany are also well fancied by both bookmakers, with Bet365 offering 11/2 and William Hill going even further by pricing them at 10/1. Die Mannschaft won the tournament back in 2014 and will be looking to defend their crown next year. Spain are also considered contenders, with Bet365 offering odds of 13/2 and William Hill going as high as 11/1. La Roja won back-to-back European Championships in 2008 and 2012 but failed to make it out of their group at the 2018 World Cup.

Outside of the Big Three, France (Bet365: 9/1) and Belgium (Bet365: 14/1) are considered leading contenders, while Portugal (Bet365: 16/1), Croatia (Bet365: 25/1) and Netherlands (William Hill: 28/1) could all be worth considering each-way bets.

With so many nations competing for glory next year, this promises to be one of the most exciting UEFA Euro tournaments yet. Be sure to check out the latest odds at Bet365 and William Hill before placing your bets!
